Britain dominates the world this Triathlon!

2nd June 2013
Forget the fortunate draw in Rio; ignore the dire one day performance against the Kiwis, set aside the Lions stroll in Hong Kong, this weekend Great Britain proved how spectacularly good we are at Triathlon!

In the World Triathlon Series held in sunny Madrid, both female and male events proved successful for British athletes. On Saturday, Non Stanford the 24 year old from Wales decimated a world class field winning comfortably from Anne Haug from Germany with another Briton, Jodie Stimpson in third.

Twenty four hours later it was the turn of the younger Brownlee brother to trounce an Olympic standard field by nearly a minute. Jonathan took advantage of his brother Alistair’s injury problems to defeat Olympic Silver medallist Javier Gomez on his home course.

Gomez must be heartily sick of the brothers from Yorkshire, after splitting the pair in the London Olympics, he found himself playing second fiddle to Jonathan in an event he would have expected to win.
