Communications Coordinator


The position will report to the Communications Manager with varied responsibilities across all department activities. These include providing day-to-day press and PR support for the department, and media servicing at external events.


Key responsibilities:

·         Working as a writer in the on-site media services team at tournaments, producing preview notes, player biographies and researching queries for media

·         Providing media operational support at selected events

·         Writing press releases, fact sheets and background documents

·         Media monitoring

·         Updating and maintaining media contact lists

·         Collaborating with National Association communications staff on promotion of the Club and its events

·         Preparation for events such as research and planning, accreditation and other general administrative work

·         Researching and maintaining player biographical and other statistical information throughout the year for use at events

·         Managing enquiries from journalists and dealing with responses efficiently and accurately both over the telephone and via email


Administrative and ad hoc projects:

·         General administration in the department (the department is self-servicing with no administrative support) such as budget management, compiling press kits, answering general email enquiries, organising travel, general filing


Skills required:

Business skills

·         Previous experience of working with the media

·         Excellent writing and editing skills (proven track record)

·         Previous events experience

·         Experience with web-based content management systems

·         Ability to manage a project from start to finish

·         Attention to detail – very accurate and timely

·         Excellent communication skills, written, oral and presentation

·         Drive and initiative

·         Team player

·         Flexible – the role sometimes includes weekend work and long hours
